SACRAMENTO, CA — The California Gun Rights Foundation (CGF) announced in a statement today that it is prepared to act quickly in court if the California Legislature advances or enacts new restrictions on the right to keep and bear arms when it reconvenes on August 18, 2025:
Among the measures of concern is Assembly Bill 1127, which targets the commercial sale of semiautomatic pistols that can be readily converted into machineguns.
As detailed in public bill materials, AB 1127 would prohibit licensed dealers from selling these “machinegun‑convertible” pistols thereby eliminating future purchases of one of the most popular handgun in the country, the Glock.
The bill functions as a de facto ban on one of the most widely owned handgun models and unconstitutionally burdens access to these arms, using supply chain regulations to effectuate the ban.
As a 501(c)(3) public interest litigation organization, CGF does not engage in lobbying or political maneuvering. Our role is to defend constitutional rights in court. If AB 1127 or any similar bill becomes law, we will be ready to challenge it and seek relief from the judiciary.
CGF has a strong record of winning cases that protect the rights of Californians, including challenges to state bans and burdensome regulations. The organization’s legal team is monitoring developments closely and will move without delay if necessary.
The Constitution does not yield to political convenience. We will not allow laws that undermine the rights of Californians to stand unopposed.
