Friday October 10th, 2025 – The California Gun Rights Foundation is deeply disappointed that Governor Gavin Newsom has chosen to sign AB 1127 into law.
By reclassifying commonly owned Glock pistols and similar firearms as “machineguns,” this legislation creates a false and dangerous narrative that punishes Californians for exercising their constitutional rights.
The state has no authority to restrict or redefine the ownership of commonly used firearms that are protected under the Second Amendment. Constitutional rights do not depend on political approval or policy preferences.
AB 1127 represents yet another attempt to distort the definitions of law and undermine fundamental rights. California’s leaders have made clear that they are more interested in advancing political symbolism than protecting liberty.
The California Gun Rights Foundation remains steadfast in its mission to defend and advance the fundamental rights of Californians and to promote a government that honors the limits imposed by the Constitution.
